Jewellery & Watch News
Our giant family of luxury watch brands continues to grow and one of our newest members is Squale watches. Since they were first founded in 1950, Squale watches and their iconic shark logo has come to mean only one thing: professional diving watches for professional divers. The history of dive watches would not be complete without this unique brand who after some industry silence has revived their collections and gained well-deserved recognition for their stunning vintage inspired timepieces.
The Squale name was first established back in the mid 1900’s where they produced watches and watch cases for other Swiss brands who didn’t have the knowledge or experience to build their own. Alongside manufacturing watch elements, Squale also created a range of dive watches under their own name. These extraordinary instruments were highly regarded by professional divers all over the world and were particularly recognisable for the iconic 50 Atmos case which showcased a distinctive crown at the 4 o’clock. Today we will be exploring some of the latest Squale watch collections in detail so you can find the perfect diver’s timepiece for your underwater adventures!
Squale Matic Watches
The Squale Matic watch collection brings back to life the original Squalematic dive watches from the 1970's renowned for their domed acrylic crystal and crown either in 3 or 4 o’clock position. These new 600 metre water resistant dive watches measure to 44mm in size and revive the vintage aesthetic alongside some modern improvements including the Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, double domed sapphire crystal glass with anti-reflective treatment and stunning bakelite bezels with multifaceted steel markers hand-set into the bakelite.
Squale 1521 Watches
Similarly, to the Squale Matic watches, the Squale 1521 watch collection is inspired by the original 50 Atmos but this time features a 42mm case size and a 500 metre water resistant rating. We are once again treated to the Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, sapphire crystal glass and stunning unidirectional bezels available in an array of colours. One of our all-time favourites from this collection is the Squale 1521 Cassa Bronzo which showcases a unique bronze case which will develop its own patina over time unique to its wearer.
Squale 1545 Watches
Another stunning range of dive watches can be found within the Squale 1545 watch collection, this time targeting those with slightly smaller wrist sizes. The 200 metre water resistant cases measure to a neat 40mm in diameter and are crafted from 316L stainless steel for optimal durability and resistance to saltwater. The Swiss ETA 2824-2 automatic movement powers the hours, minutes, seconds and date functions while vintage coloured SuperLuminova treated hands and markers provide remarkable legibility in all light conditions.
Squale 2002 Watches
Last but certainly not least is the Squale 2002 watch collection. This stunning series of professional dive watches is inspired by the original 101ATMOS from the 1970’s and features the most impressive water resistant rating out of the lot! It’s 43mm case is water resistant to an astonishing 1,000 metres and is fully equipped with the brand’s famous snap-on unidirectional bezel and 3.5mm thick sapphire crystal with a double gasket to ensure outstanding durability in water. The bezels are once again engineered from hard bakelite and decorated with phosphorescent material for optimal legibility.
