THE C. W. SELLORS LAPIDARY & CARVING AWARD
As part of celebrating 35 years in business, C W Sellors are proud to have collaborated with the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council to sponsor the award for ‘Lapidary & Carving – All Forms of Stone Cutting’ for 2014.
The Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council is a non-profit making organisation founded over one hundred years ago in 1908. Today, the Council continues its work from its original remit: “to encourage, stimulate and promote the pursuit of excellence in craftsmanship and design amongst all those in the United Kingdom who work within silversmithing, goldsmithing, jewellery and the allied crafts.”
There are many awards which are bestowed by the Goldsmiths’ Craft and Design Council every year to acknowledge the achievements of crafts men and women in their area of specialism. This new award seeks to encourage, promote and identify creative and technical examples of lapidary work.
Entrants to this special award are invited to submit shaped, polished and faceted designs or any form of carving that demonstrates technical excellence, creativity and aesthetic qualities. The winning entrant will receive a prize of gemstone product to the value of £1000.
As the UK’s largest manufacturer of British gemstone jeweller, in addition to the option of working with your own gemstones, C W Sellors are also offering all entrants the opportunity to utilise authentic British Whitby Jet for their entry.
