Considered a noble gemstone, Jade has captivated wearers for thousands of years. The term jade applies to two varieties: jadeite and nephrite. Jade can be pale to deep emerald green, but can also occur in shades of violet, mauve and blue. Nephrite occurs as dark green, brown, orange, bluish grey or black. In China, a pierced jade disc is said to symbolise heaven. Jade is gifted for thirty-five year wedding anniversaries.
In prehistoric times, Jade was carved into arrowheads and tools because of its outstanding toughness! This toughness has helped preserve Chinese history as mystic figures and symbols have been carved into the stone for more than two thousand years. Jade has been sourced from Burma, Guatemala, Japan, Russia and the USA.
