About Marco Bicego Jewellery

Since 2000, Marco Bicego jewellery has decorated the bodies of women across the globe who appreciate the true luxury of Italian craftsmanship and the elegance of contemporary design. Every necklace, ring and bracelet is created using one of brand’s three signature hallmarks: multicoloured gemstones, hand twisted coil detailing and hand engraved 18 carat gold. If you’re new to Marco Bicego jewellery, or you’re a seasoned admirer looking to learn more, here’s an introduction to the Italian jewellery brand…

The story of Marco Bicego jewellery began several decades before its inaugural collection. In 1958, Giuseppe Bicego opened up a small workshop in the heart of the Veneto region in northern Italy, specialising in solid gold chains. Giuseppe soon fathered a son, Marco, who at a young age followed in the footsteps of his father learning the skills of goldsmithing. Following several years of apprenticeship and working with his father, Marco Bicego eventually decided to create his own range of fine jewellery in the year 2000.

I was working in my father's company when one day I saw a discarded faulty chain, waiting to be remelted. That’s when inspiration struck.” – Marco Bicego

From the very beginning, Marco Bicego took inspiration from organic forms in nature to create his collections of 18ct gold jewellery. Much of this nature was seen during his world travels and as such, many of the Marco Bicego jewellery collections are named after foreign lands like Goa, Cairo, Masai and Marrakech. Many of these designs utilise the brand’s famous coiling technique which see’s solid gold hand twisted and coiled into a fluid chain, creating an effect as if the gold is moving.

Marco Bicego jewellery is also renowned for its use of coloured gemstones, as seen in the collections like Paradise, Jaipur and Africa. The Italian fine jewellery manufacturer is careful in selecting only the best gemstones to adorn their designs which are then individually cut to offer a one of a kind individuality. Some of the many rare gemstones used in the Marco Bicego jewellery collections include amethyst, peridot, quartz, garnet, tourmaline, topaz and pearls.

"The inspiration behind the creation of my jewels is rooted in my Venetian origins and the natural settings surrounding my territory. I have always believed in quality and in the secrets of Italian jewelry. The distinct uniqueness of my timeless jewels can be described through artisanal craftsmanship and imperfect shapes, always made in 18 karat gold." -Marco Bicego
