About Anonimo Watches

Anonimo is a watch company that embodies the joy of living through its beautifully crafted timepieces. The Italian manufacturer offers a broad selection of casually elegant wristwatches equipped with Swiss precision. Promoting the liberty to celebrate life and passion, the philosophy behind Anonimo is about cherishing precious moments in time and making memories. Every Anonimo watch shares the same characteristics. Italian design, Swiss made movements, quality, functionality and uniqueness. Amongst our selection of Anonimo watches here at C W Sellors are models from the Militare, the Militare Classic Automatic, Militare Classic Chrono, Epurato and Nautilo lines.

Differentiating the brand from others within the industry is Anonimo’s use of bronze as an alloy for its robust and resilient diver’s watches. Not only does the material suffice as a saltwater-resistant and anti corrosive option for diving watches, but it also develops a patina over time, adding character and charm to the design as it ages on the wrist. There are some very distinctive features found in an Anonimo watch. Many of the models boast an instantly recognisable cushion-shaped case with softened corners – a favourable look of 70s inspired steel sports watches. In an Anonimo watch, however, this design feature takes on a style of its very own. Anonimo Militare watches are examples of very clever engineering. The crown has a water resistance that is guaranteed thanks to an ingenious mechanism that is found between the horns at 12 o’clock. Every dial of an Anonimo watch is also adorned with triangular motifs marked out at 4, 8 and 12 o’clock in reference to the A in the Anonimo name. Master craftsmen at the company’s manufacturing facilities also opt for the finest Italian leather straps crated from traditional techniques carried out by Piedmont based saddlers located in the northwest region of Italy.

The origins of Anonimo harken back to 1997 when Federico Massacesi founded the company. His vision was to pay homage to and refine traditional Florence watchmaking traditions with a line of mechanical watches that referenced icons of the early watchmaking scene. The relocation of Italian manufacturer Panerai left many talented craftsmen behind to which Massacesi took advantage of. Whilst formulating his business plan he welcomed these artisans on board, creating his first watch, the Millemetri. The automatic watch could withstand 1000 meter water depths with a design developed to military standards. Releasing the Millemetri enabled Anonimo to get a feel for what its audiences wanted in a wristwatch. Therefore, the Militare was a timepiece that honed into the specific requirements of its intended user. The watch which was released in 2001, featured a patented crown locking system. The Nautilo and Polluce then followed, becoming popular favourites for the military and diving fraternity.

Anonimo’s first diving watch crafted from bronze was launched in 2006 appealing to seafarers with its ability to age in character yet not in performance. In 2013 Anonimo was taken over by European investors who relocated the company to Switzerland. Now known as Anonimo SA, the company defied the odds and remained independent by continuing to create beautiful hand-finished timepieces that convey a wealth of status. Anonimo watches now have global status, selling in over 15 countries.

Loved for its handcrafted leather straps, tailored crowns and remarkably strong fixings, Anonimo will forever be associated with its robust, military tools for facing extreme conditions with. Over the years, many improvements have been made to the brand’s innovative approach to watchmaking yet the company is always seeking new ways to create, develop and evolve its wristwatches for divers, seafarers, sportsmen and clients of the military.
