Fabergé Objets D'Art

Fabergé are world renowned for their ornate and precious Eggs and Objets D'Art. The first Fabergé Egg was commissioned in 1885 by Tsar Alexander III, who intended the piece as an Easter present for his wife. Known as the ‘Hen Egg,’ it has a fine white enamel ‘shell’ and opens to reveal a yellow gold yolk. Inside, a gold enamelled hen holds a replica of the Imperial crown containing a precious ruby pendant egg. Delighted with the Egg, the Imperial Family appointed Fabergé as the Royal goldsmiths, and under the supervision of Peter Carl Fabergé, a fabulous series of 50 Imperial Eggs were created for the Russian Imperial family, each one elaborate and luxurious.
