Bremont Hawking

The legend of cosmology, Professor Stephen Hawking is commemorated in British watchmaker Bremont’s 10th limited edition design. The Bremont Hawking collection has a special place in the heart of the Henley-on-Thames manufacturer. Nick and Giles’ father attended St Albans School with the world-famous author and theoretical physicist. The collection marks a few firsts for Bremont, who is globally renowned for producing limited edition watches for the motor and aviation industry. The Bremont Hawking series is the first to offer a ladies’ version, not to mention the first women’s Bremont watch adorned in diamonds. Secondly, each piece incorporates four pieces of wood taken from an antique desk inherited by Professor Hawking from his late grandmother of which he sat at to compose some of his theories on gravitational forces, the history of the universe and of course, time. If that wasn’t enough, those in awe of the scientist’s work will appreciate the number of their limited edition timepiece printed on an original 1979 seminal research paper co-wrote by Hawking – the “The ‘nuts’ and ‘bolts’ of Gravity”. The life and work of Professor Hawking are well and truly paid tribute to in each of the 88 rose gold variations, the 88 white gold and the 388 steel iterations – the numbers of which nod to the 1988 release of his “Brief History of Time” science book. A specially decorated caseback, adorned with a piece of meteorite, is hand finished, depicting the positioning of the stars as seen in the night sky above Oxford on the evening of Stephen Hawking’s birth on 8th January 1942.
