Exploring Oris Watches

Jewellery & Watch News

The popularity of Oris watches continues to grow every day with the independent Swiss watch manufacturer remaining one of the most successful in the world. Since their founding in 1904 in the Swiss town of Hölstein, Oris has designed an incredible range of multi-purpose watches designed for diving, aviation, motor racing and all-round elegance. Not only have Oris watches been worn by professionals within each of these industries, they are also behind some of the greatest movements and complications in the industry.

Masters of mechanical watches, Oris are one of only a handful of Swiss watch brands that only use mechanical movements within their watches. Believing that automatic and hand winding calibres are where the beauty of watchmaking is at, they remain committed to providing only the best mechanical movements and complications in their designs. Oris are behind some of their own in-house movements that have been widely celebrated including the Calibre 113 which provides a range of complications rarely seen together in one timepiece and the newest Calibre 114 which boasts the very first a 24-hour second time zone with half-hour indication.

To celebrate their achievements as a mechanical watch manufacturer, Oris decorate every single watch with their famous red oscillating rotor. The rotor has become a symbol of Oris’ innovation and dedication to traditional Swiss watchmaking techniques while also allowing customers to be sure that their Oris watch is completely genuine. Today we will be breaking down all the latest Oris watch collections to help you find the perfect model for you. From Oris Aquis Diving watches, to Williams Racing models to Oris Big Crown Pilot watches, there really is an Oris watch for everyone.

Oris Aquis Watches

The flagship collection from Oris, Oris Aquis watches are designed purposely as professional diving watches with incredibly high water resistant cases and stunning ceramic top rings equipped with unidirectional functionality so you can safely measure oxygen levels while underwater. There are a huge variety of Oris Aquis watches to discover from simple Aquis Date watches to highly complicated Oris Aquis Chronographs and Oris Aquis Depth Gauge watches which became the first patented timepiece from the brand to measure ocean depth from a unique feature built into the sapphire crystal glass.

The Oris Aquis watch collection has also been the base for some of the brand’s most charitable efforts. For as long as we can remember, Oris have been releasing special and limited edition watches in the form of their Aquis designs and collaborating with different ocean conservation charities to raise awareness and money for many ocean-related issues. This year, we have seen the release of the their new ‘Oceans Project’, a campaign which includes a series of watches that are designed to strengthen both the brand and their customer’s commitment to oceanic health. Alongside the campaign came the launch of a special Oris Save the Ocean Limited Edition Set which you can read more information about here.

Oris Sixty Five Divers Watches

A huge favourite with vintage watch lovers, the Oris Sixty Five Divers watch collection celebrates the reincarnation of an old Oris diver watch that could be found in the collection fifty years ago. The bubble curved sapphire crystal glass, distinctive dials and retro shaped markers coated in Superluminova shout back to the 1960s while also shouting louder to those of us who are suckers for vintage inspired watches.

The Oris Sixty Five watch is also home to one of the brand’s most celebrated and fastest selling limited editions. The first Oris Carl Brashear Limited Edition was released back in 2016 and celebrated the extraordinary life of Carl Brashear, the U.S Navy’s first African American master diver.  The piece also became the first bronze watch to be released from the brand and sold out almost immediately for its unique ability to naturally age and change colour the more it is worn. Following its success, Oris have now released a brand new range of Oris Sixty Five Bi-Colour Bronze and Steel watches with colour changing bezels and bracelets.

Oris ProDiver Watches

For the serious and professional divers, the Oris ProDiver watch collection boasts all the hallmarks of a device that looks and functions like a real underwater diving tool. Many of the Oris ProDiver watches are fitted with the Oris patented RSS bezel locking system, a signature device that securely locks the unidirectional rotating bezel into place during a dive. This ensures that even if the bezel gets knocked while underwater it will never increase dive time guaranteeing the diver will always have enough air and time to return to the surface safely.

Each Oris ProDiver watch has a remarkable presence with many models presented in large sized, robust and lightweight titanium cases fitted with a water resistance of a whopping 1,000 metres. Just like the cases, the dials of the Oris ProDiver watches are oversized too, fitted with hands and indices filled with Superluminova coating for easy legibility even in the dark depths of the ocean. Some of these Oris diving watches also showcase high contrast yellow details since yellow is considered the most visible colour underwater.

Oris Artelier Watches

Moving away from diving watches, the Oris Artelier watch is the brand’s flagship model of the occasion watch collection. Designed to be both stylish and functional, Oris Artelier watches transition effortlessly between a day in the office to a night on the town. More than just a pretty face, the Oris Artelier watch collection is also home to some of the brand’s most innovative movements. The Oris Artelier Calibre 113 watch is Oris’ fourth in-house developed movement. It boasts an incredible business calendar function including the day, date, week and month of the year, a range of complications rarely seen together on a single dial. The Oris Artelier Grand Lune is another beautiful example of the brand’s design skills with its stunning moonphase aperture which allows you to see the several phases of the moon detailed on a dark blue sky.
