Exploring Alpina Watches

Jewellery & Watch News

For as long as we can remember, Alpina have been associated with some of the greatest horological innovations in history. Their reliable and robust sports watches are designed to keep you company on all your adventures, no matter how demanding the environment. Crafted from durable materials and equipped with highly praised Swiss automatic watch movement, each Alpina watch is specifically engineered to withstand the depths of our oceans and the high altitudes of our mountains.

Alpina was first founded in 1883 by Gottleib Haiser who had a vision of uniting Swiss watchmaking industry forces to achieve the very best in technical innovation and watch manufacturing. As well as wanting to craft his very own manufacture movements, Haiser also dreamed of providing sportsmen, engineers and technicians of all kinds with their dream watch, a timepiece that would assist them no matter where they went. This vision turned into a reality with the introduction of the Alpina 4 concept in 1938.

The Alpina 4 sports watch imposed four key principles to ensure it would survive every situation: antimagnetic, anti-shock, water resistance and stainless steel. This remarkable way of thinking allowed the Alpina 4 watches to become the timekeeper of choice for Alpinists, air force pilots, divers, the navy and the military. These four ideals are still alive in the Alpina watches you see today, ensuring sportsmen of every kind are taken care of. Today we will be breaking down all the latest Alpina watch collections to help you find the perfect model for you.

Alpina Alpiner Watches

Starting off strong, let’s take a look at the Alpina Alpiner watch collection. These fantastic sport watches are available with both automatic and quartz movements proving you can achieve exceptional functionality with every type of budget. Many of the Alpina Alpiner Automatic watches boast some of the brand’s own manufacture movement, of which there are now five in total.

One Alpina calibre that we can’t take our eyes off is their fly back chronograph. The Alpina Alpiner 4 Manufacture Fly Back Chronograph watch is breathtaking, not only for its exterior aesthetic but for its AL-760 automatic movement. This calibre was the brand’s first fully in-house developed and produced chronograph movement and it didn’t fail to impress comprising of 233 components and the ingenious direct fly back construction.

Boasting a durable design perfect for use outdoors and incredible smart watch features like a UV monitor, altimeter and barometer, the Alpina AlpinerX smartwatch has not disappointed so far.

There are a huge variety of AlpinerX watches to choose from, each boasting different coloured dial designs and a range of luxurious straps to wear. The hybrid dials are applied with luminous indexes and hour and minute hands alongside a digital screen that displays the date and smartwatch functions. You can find activity and sleep tracking, dynamic coach training, smart alarms, worldtimer, compass function and many more handy tools in each Alpina AlpinerX watch. At the beginning of this year, we were also treated to the first Alpina AlpinaX limited edition watch, the Freeride World Tour watch which saw the timepiece on top of some of the world’s most dangerous mountains in collaboration with the Ski Freeride World Tour.
