Over nearly 40 years, we have built up a big collection of products from top luxury brands that customers can either buy from our boutiques or order through our website.
Pearls continue to be popular amongst collectors of fine jewellery, as they are known to represent elegance, purity and are associated with one of the earth’s greatest natural wonders; the oceans.
We are proud to stock a large collection from Mikimoto; a leading brand for quality cultured pearls. In 1893, Kokichi Mikimoto succeeded in creating the world’s first cultured pearl. His achievement secured Mikimoto’s position as the foremost authority on these brilliant gems of the sea. Since then, Mikimoto’s pearl farmers have dedicated their lives to understanding the sea, researching the oyster and growing the finest quality cultured pearls.
However, like gemstones, the quality of a pearl is strongly influenced by the surrounding environment in which they form. Luxury brands, such as Mikimoto, aim to source pearls with the highest available quality.
Pearls are graded based on factors such as their:
- Surface quality
The pearls are then assigned a grade e.g. A-D, with Grades 'A' and above representing the best quality. The grading chart from Mikimoto (below) shows how these fine quality pearls compare to others at lower grades. As you can see from the pyramid, Mikimoto strive to maintain a high standard, sourcing pearls in the top 5% of the grading system. The Mikimoto sorting process and proprietary grading system are unique in the industry, assuring that every customer acquires only the most superb pearls.
