Jewellery & Watch News

C W Sellors could not resist the temptation to visit Baselworld last week, the largest annual watch and jewellery show in the world, to see some of the brand new collections from our favourite jewellery brands. We were lucky enough to be some of the first to see… and try on (sorry, we couldn’t help ourselves!)… the new jewellery releases from brands like Ponte Vecchio, Faberge, Mikimoto, Marco Bicego, Fope and Georg Jensen who have really set the standards high for the upcoming year! Below are some of our most-loved moments from our week in Basel.

Mikimoto Baselworld 2016

Pearls, pearls, pearls and more pearls was all you could see at the Mikimoto stand and the mesmerising iridescence drew you further in. Being the brand that succeeded in creating the world’s very first cultured pearl in 1893, Mikimoto’s love behind these pure and lustrous gems of the sea was obvious in their new and current collections. The Mikimoto Art Deco necklace and earrings set was one that could not be stared at in awe when you walked through the room. Navigating a fine line between contemporary elegance and classic innovation, the Art Deco designs boast exquisite and perfectly round rare pearls hanging delicately from 18ct white gold settings embellished in dazzling diamonds. They are like something out of the Great Gatsby and you can find them for yourself on our website here:

Marco Bicego Baselworld 2016

When Marco Bicego revealed some of their brand new releases to us last week, our mouths all dropped in wonderment. Although there are no new collections from the Italian luxury jewellery retailer this year, they have added some new pieces to their current lines that were truly hair-raising. The Marco Bicego Lunaria collection, that was designed as a tribute to the Lunaria flower, has some brand new designs that now include sparkling diamonds set within the 18ct gold petal shaped pendants. The Marco Bicego Unico collection has also been reinvented to include some enchanting coloured stones including landscape jasper which has been formed by sedimentation during volcanic processes. The irregular colours and patterns that appear in the stones make the jewellery truly breathtaking. You can find all our Marco Bicego jewellery here:

Ponte Vecchio Baselworld 2016

Ponte Vecchio never seems to be short of ideas when it comes to expanding their collections, and their new Love Lock charm and bracelet line is no exception. This cute and quirky idea was inspired by the locks you find on the Ponte Vecchio Bridge in Florence where lovers fasten a lock onto the bridge and throw away the key in the river, a symbol of their eternal love. The rose and yellow gold charms come in heart and padlock designs that can be fastened onto a delicate bracelet or necklace letting you express your own devotion to a loved one. We were also lucky enough to feast our eyes on the Ponte Vecchio Vega collection, a line of jewellery that is completely coated in the purest gemstones including diamonds, rubies and sapphires. The Ponte Vecchio Octopus necklaces were truly magical and we are excited to have them on display in our stores very soon. You can find all our Ponte Vecchio jewellery collections here.
